Sunglass Hut Glasgow

We’re delighted at Links Signs to reveal one of our latest retail shopfront signage projects, on behalf of Sunglass Hut – well known high street retailer of all the coolest sunglasses – from Ray-Ban, to Versace & Gucci.

Sleek cladding, formed from precision measured, folded 2mm aluminium (powder coated black), wraps seamlessly around the entranceway to the store. Above the lintel of the entrance, the illuminated fascia sign is made from the same material as the cladding – but with laser cut apertures through which the shoulder-cut 10mm opal acrylic logotype is pushed through (extruding a further 8mm beyond the face of the cladding).

The logotype is internally illuminated by 7200kV LED modules housed behind the acrylic (along with the LED drivers themselves) – with the electrics being on a switchable timer mechanism. Due to constant pedestrian footfall during the day, installation of the frontage for Sunglass Hut Glasgow by necessity had to be carried out at night by our specialist Installation Team. We’re looking forward to collaborating on more projects for Sunglass Hut as they continue to roll out new retail stores nationwide.

Links Signs successfully managed a complex project overseeing the manufacture and installation of 48 panels to create a bespoke mural on the Transport for London (TfL) owned bridge and the station entrance at Northwood Hills station. Links ensured not only that all the technical and engineering requirements of TfL were met but also that the extensive colour hues specified by mural artists Gordon Collett and Cosmo Sarson were achieved. The finished result is wonderful, as summed up by Mayor of London Boris Johnson when he visited ‘My God, it’s beautiful! Did we do this? The murals – they’re sensational!’ He added: ‘I think it’s all fantastic, really imaginative. I’m very proud.’
