Links Signs were awarded the contract to manufacture and install the new illuminated station identity signage at Limehouse DLR Station. The request was to deliver the signage within 5 weeks of placing the order. Initial project management included a site-specific survey to establish a fixing and installation method and final fabrication designs before manufacturing and installing the signage.
Links Signs site teams set to work undertaking a full site survey. Surveying the existing roof and steel works allowed us to then design a mounting system. Our surveys also identify site access requirements and limitations to working times that must be strictly adhered to. All our site teams carry IPAF, SENTINAL, PASMA and CSCS qualifications and work to our CHAS Accredited standards and OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety Management policy. The works required the manufacture and installation of Large Illuminated Station Name Signage and Large Illuminated DLR Roundel Station Identifiers.
The Limehouse Station name consists of 600mm tall, internally illuminated rim and return letters. These are installed to a bespoke support frame – allowing the installation to be carried out in one piece. In turn, this speeds up installation speed and efficiently – saving our client money (and more importantly time) on their tight delivery programme. All letters were assembled in our factory and mounted to the support frame, before being collected and installed on site. This also allows for quality checks on everything within a controlled environment.
The DLR Roundels are internally illuminated with a full back tray and removable face. This allows installation of the backs at the same time as the station name, using the same lifting and access equipment. The fronts were then positioned and fixed into place before connecting the signs.
