A Sight to Behold

Recently, Links Signs has been proud to partner with David Clulow Opticians to produce exterior store front signage for several flagship store refits, following a rebranding excercise by the high street opticians chain. At their Bicester, Cobham and Islington stores, we have replaced their old logo branding with new logotypes from built up steel lettering finished an opulent pearl gold, alongside opal acrylic with internal LEDs providing subtle but warm backlit halo illumination.

The focal point of all the signage at the store refits we have completed for David Clulow are of course the beautifully precision crafted halo-illuminated logotypes we manufactured for each store. These are far from the only signage elements we produced for each store, however.

Each halo-illuminated logo is accented by smaller solid acrylic letters, wet-sprayed a light turquoise colour which we specifically colour matched to the client’s brand guidelines. Illuminated double-sided projecting signs also feature alongside the main illuminated logotypes, providing brand visibility to passing customers approaching the stores from multiple directions.

Finally, contour-cut and reverse-applied window graphics also adorn the glazed frontage and entrance doors, providing additional messaging relevant to each of the stores

Links Signs offers a complete Surveying service as part of any retail signage project that we undertake. One of the things we worked closely with our client to establish early on was to ensure that the structural integrity of external fascias at their stores were fit to support the weight of our new signs. Dry rot, asbestos, rust, crumbling facades and similar issues are all things we can check for as part of our initial survey for a client.

Links Signs successfully managed a complex project overseeing the manufacture and installation of 48 panels to create a bespoke mural on the Transport for London (TfL) owned bridge and the station entrance at Northwood Hills station. Links ensured not only that all the technical and engineering requirements of TfL were met but also that the extensive colour hues specified by mural artists Gordon Collett and Cosmo Sarson were achieved. The finished result is wonderful, as summed up by Mayor of London Boris Johnson when he visited ‘My God, it’s beautiful! Did we do this? The murals – they’re sensational!’ He added: ‘I think it’s all fantastic, really imaginative. I’m very proud.’
