London Underground’s Bond Street Station was officially transformed into Burberry Street, as part of the brand’s city-wide takeover for one of the most stylish weeks in town: London Fashion Week. Burberry partnered with TfL to rebrand the station overnight, to reflect Burberry’s new official colour, Knight Blue, and rename Bond Street to Burberry Street.
Links Signs was commissioned to undertake the rebrand, which involved rebranding of the Station Entrances, Platform Roundels and Platform Friezes across 3 different lines: Central, Jubilee and Elizabeth line. This was a comprehensive, time-sensitive project which was achieved through meticulous planning and collaboration between the respective stakeholder’s design teams and TfL’s Commercial and Operations teams, alongside our extensive experience in delivering projects of this size within the TfL environment.
Involved right from initial conception; Links Signs conducted detailed and extensive surveys of the station – with attention to detail being key. The survey included details like individual frieze panel placements on the platform frieze lines to create templates, this allowed Burberry’s design agency to format their creative to allow branding to seamlessly flow across the designated TfL assets.
The installation required meticulous attention to detail, ensuring the Burberry branding and TfL’s iconic assets worked seamlessly and in harmony together. Installation of graphics took place over the course of a single night – during engineering hours when the Underground was closed to the public. This was important to protect the planned media launch by Burberry the following morning. Fully trained and accredited Links Signs install teams completed the installation to plan and on-time, allowing Burberry and TfL to celebrate their planned vision.
