Links Signs and the NHS Ambu-Buses

Supporting Transport for London, the NHS and Go Ahead London, Links Signs helped transform two electric London buses into “Ambu-buses” to help transport Covid 19 patients in London, UK.

Links Signs installed special “blockout” vinyl to two London buses to help protect the privacy of the NHS staff, volunteer St John’s Ambulance teams, and the patients inside.

Seats have been removed from the single-decker buses and essential medical and oxygen supplies have been added to the buses to turn them into temporary ambulances. Each bus can now transport four passengers at a time to the Nightingale Hospital at the ExCeL centre in London from other London Hospitals.

The buses are owned by Go Ahead and have been loaned to the NHS. Go Ahead also reported that they had been inundated by volunteer drivers from their own staff, all of whom have been vaccinated.

Quick turnaround

A fast delivery time on this project was key.  Links Signs received the enquiry from Transport for London on 12 January 2021 and the graphics were fitted by two of Links Signs’ own fully trained and accredited team on 15 January 2021. The buses are already transporting patients between Guy’s Hospital, and King’s College Hospital to the Nightingale Hospital in London.
