On 8th November 2018, for Armistice Day, a brand new War Memorial designed by artist Fabian Peake was unveiled at St Pancras International Station on the Grand Terrace. It marks 100 years since the end of WWI and is a reminder of the fundamental role the railways played in both wars – as well as a memorial to lives lost.
Links Signs were approached by Fabian Peake, a London-based artist, to manufacture and install his artwork, made from vitreous enamel. The commission commemorates those railway workers, men and women, who worked for St Pancras Station and who lost their lives in both world wars.
We worked closely with Fabian to realise his vision, which took the form of job titles of the employees of the station and goods yard. The artworks are designed to resemble funeral cards – white plaques with a black border and black handwritten titles. Although simple in design, the effect that we were able to produce stands out from the Grade I listed brickwork at the station.
We’re more than happy to talk about your sign or cladding project - just fill in this form and our team will be in touch.
