ProjectBeckton Illuminated Letters – Architectural Signage

Back to Projects

Beckton Station is part of the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). The DLR opened in 1987, and is an automated metro train system with 40 stations. The station recently underwent a small enhancement project, of which a large set of illuminated letters and a new post mounted DLR roundel was required.

Links Signs fabricated the illuminated letters from stainless steel and mounted them to a hinging stand so they could be easily lowered and maintained. The support frame was fabricated from mild steel which was hot dipped galvanised and then completed with a powder coated finish.

The post mounted roundel was fabricated from a 3.5m stainless steel post with a large internally illuminated DLR logo fixed to the top. The logo itself was fabricated from stainless steel and finished by powder coating the outside edges. The faces were made up of 5mm perspex with applied translucent vinyl to ensure correct brand colours. We then illuminated them with LEDs for long lasting life and low maintenance costs.
